August 21, 2007 - Stick Night at the Halls Dojo

I want to take this time to give a big thank you to Master Bowers and Sensei Allan for a wonderful night of Arnis instruction.  It is always a pleasure to work with people who have a passion to help others better themselves.  They are always good for some laughs and some great instruction.  Master Bowers has been a wonderful inspiration to me over the years.  I consider it a great honor to call him a friend.  Sensei Allan is someone that I have secretly looked up to for some time now, and not only because he is so tall.  Mike has been the main reason I have been trying to spruce up my katas and get them where they need to be.  If I can look half as good as he does when he runs his kata then I now I will be on the right track.

I was so very proud of the students at the Halls Dojo tonight.  I received a glowing report from Sensei Allan as to your work and attention.  He mentioned he was impressed with your focus and the way most of you picked up on the techniques he was teaching.

Great Job!!!  Once again you have made me very proud.

Hunter and I missed our regular Monday night workout at North Knox this week and decided to visit Halls on Tuesday to make up for the lost workout. Neither of us had been to the Halls Dojo before but had met a few of the members at our family nights. Imagine our surprise to find out that Master Bowers and Sensei Allan were conducting an Arnis class. Everyone at Halls made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in the door. Hunter and I felt right at home. Hunter really impressed me with what he has picked up from Master Bower and Sensei Allan in the past two weeks that he has started working a little more on the sticks. I would like to say thanks to everyone at Halls for turning a "make-up workout" into a truly enjoyable experience. It is really a great feeling to know that we are all family and welcome at each others Dojo at any time. I only wish i could have experienced one of Brad's "Cosmo" workouts that I have heard so much about.
