Stick Night
Thanks so much for making our first "Stick Night" Seminar such a success. Special thanks to Sensei Hawkins for allowing Master Bowers and myself the time and support to share Arnis with you.
Being that this was our first seminar we would love to hear feedback from all who took part, let us know what you liked, disliked and any suggestions for future seminars.
We covered a lot of basics in a short period of time so feel free to ask any questions that might not have gotten answered for you.
Remember Practice, Practice, Practice
12 strikes – strike with control stopping at your target AND COUNT!
Footwork – remember your triangle and mirror stepping
Basic Blocks – remember to hold your cane vertical
Block / Check – Check the hand
Redonda – remember to "whittle" your opponents cane
Hopefully Sensei Hawkins will be able to work in 10 or 15 minutes of stick drills, otherwise grab a partner before class.
Remember we are searching for "FLOW". We want smooth, instantaneous actions and reactions, one technique flowing into the next … and how to we achieve that?
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE
