Family Night - Part 2
Well another family night has come and gone. I think I speak for everyone that was there when I say that it was one heck of an evening. Master Mills did an outstanding job, as always, with his street self-defense. Chris did a great job and keeping each ring moving and making sure that everyone was pushed as far as they could be in their sparring. I was also very glad to see Rick Breeden and his crew. Anyone of them is always a joyMy only regret is that I was unable to dispell the myths that my warm-ups come from "Cosmo" or "Gymboree". Ahhhhhh but there is always next time.
I was very impressed with the talent that many of the kyu ranks showed. It makes me feel good to know that the future of our school is showing so much promise. One of the things I really enjoy about the family nights is the growth I see in the students from the other schools from month to month. The longer you are in the martial arts your progress tends to slow. But when you are just starting out there is a visible difference in just a small amount of time. It makes me look forward to next months family night.
And last of all, in regards to the "disappearing act" that was witnessed on Tuesday night, I couldn't help but notice that someone was strangely absent from the class last night. Kent called me late in the day yesterday and informed me that he was going to have to "work" late and would be unable to attend. What I don't think he realized is that the people in the background we rather noisey and I could hear them. I distictly remember hearing a swoosh sound followed by someone yelling "FORE". I guess the thought of all that tallent in one room was just too much!
Thanks to everyone for coming. I'll see you next time.

Great night, it was nice a pleasure seeing Big Jim as well as Master Breeden working out. I took the night to just watch and keep and eye on my new addition to our Martial Arts Family, my grandson Sean. It was great for me personally to see my son Brandon working out and sparring for the first time in several years. It's amazing and a testament to his athletic ability to after all this time off to be able to put the pads on and give some top notch black belts all they wanted and more. I echo what Master Breeden said, boy it'd be great to be 18 again. Master Breeden looked great in his sparring and Big Jim, what can you say for a man his size to move as well as he does. Chuck Beal again is Chuck Beal, what more can you say. I also seen a lot of promise in Christian, he looks to be a great yong Black Belt and I'm sure he'll give people fit's for years to come. Well it's Sat. morning and I'm just sitting here pecking on this keyboard so I need to go be productive so I'll see you guy's soon.
Also guy's please visit my site and leave something on my guestbook as it kind of discouraging to have a empty guestbook on you web site.

I can't remember when I have ever had so much fun. What could be better than a room full of Black Belts... and an hour of time ahead of you for "knocking about"... It went by much too quickly.
So let me see what I learned...
I learned how to defend against a knife attack...
I learned a variety of "Street Smart" self defence techniques...
I learned that if you are forced to "Throw Down", make it "Fast & Violent"...
... I learned to pay attention to my wieght distibution (by getting "swept" and landing flat on my back)...
Most important, I reconfirmed in my own mind how much I need to learn & how blessed I am to be associated with such a group.
To me, the night could not have gone any better... Thank you all for your efforts... can't wait for next time...
