Are you Training Enough? A Reply
Greetings from Destin, Florida. I just got in from the beach and thought I would take a minute to fill you all in on my thoughts about Sensei Mike's comments on training. I just spent the past 30 - 45 minutes on the beach running sprints, doing lunges and jump squats. Luckily it was dark and not many people could see me. Especially on my last set of jump squats. I was doing them across a space of about 30 yards or so and my legs gave out and I went face first into the sand.
It is my opinion that if you are serious about the martial arts and striving to better yourself physically, mentally and spirtiually you will work outside of class. One of my goals is to break a sweat 6 out of 7 days during the week. Some days it is alot of sweat and others are not so sweaty. Any exercise is better than none. Run katas, do charts, chop wood, push a weighted wheel barrow up a hill and try to walk it down slowly. It doesn't matter what you do as long as you do something. Trust me it will not take long for you to notice the difference in class.
My appologies to Master Gregg and everyone for not being able to be at the family night on Thursday. Unfortunately my work schedule got in the way this time and I had to leave for a conference. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Karns dojo's family night in October.
Until then......Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks for the back-up ... and for taking time out of your "business" trip to keep in touch.
Our hearts go out to you slaving away at the BEACH ... did you happen to capture on tape your face plant in the sand?
You will be missed Thursday night .... have a safe trip and see you soon ....
