Thanks for the compliments. I really enjoyed the night as well. You and your fellow students are welcome any time you like.

Kevin shows a great deal of potential. I am anxious to see how he progresses over the next few years.

I was also happy to see Sensei Chris there and in as good of spirits as one can be with a separated shoulder. It has not been a good month for the Halls group. We have Chris and Christian out with damaged shoulders, Randy is out with a torn calf muscle and Devon is out with Mononucleaousirusjvesert. (Mono for short) I know that we all wish them a speedy recovery.

Brad that was a great and fun workout. Where did you learn the Hindu push ups and squats. If you got them from Matt Furey's book, I gave those dvds to Master Mills see if he will give you a copy. The instruction on the dvds is a little better than in the book and more in depth.
I was impressed with Christians kicks, he has a great side kick and you know how I feel about side kicks. I bet he is very good when he can use his hands.
I probably fought longer and harder than I have in sometime and guess what? I made it through it. I had a lot of fun and may visit some more before the first of the year as the church has some special activities planned.

Thanks Gregg, you know you and you folks are welcome anytime.  Yes, I do get some of my exercises from Matt Furey but not everything.  He gets alot of bad press on the Internet, but so far I have been impresses with what he has.  He teaches nothing new just variations of exercises that have been around for years.  I have his tapes as well.  I prefer the "divebomber" style of the hidu pushup.    I personally think it works the upper body a little better.  There are hundreds of different ways to do a push up.  Have you been studying up on his deep breathing techniques?

Yes I've been practicing the deep breathing, and it sure makes a big difference in the exercise when you add the breathing. The bridging is really what I like as it's sure helped my abs. I couldn't believe how useless setups and crunches were until I started seeing the results from the bridging that I never saw from those exercises. I actually bring my feet as close to my rear end as I can when doing the push ups. I'm almost in a crab like position. I'm up to about 50 push ups and 100 squats, I also can touch my nose to the baseboard doing the wall walks.
As for Matt himself, I think he's a predator and much of his stuff is a quick way to make a buck. The combat conditioning was very good, but wrestlers have been doing those exercises for years. It just reopened my eyes to that workout. I also have been working the kettlebells from Steve Maxwell videos, they are super.
If you want a good Martial Arts workout as for endurance and technique training you need to get Benny the Jets training videos.

Don't for a minute think that I don't see through this exercise discussion as just a ploy to shut me up ... Well it almost worked ...
I'll leave the exercises to you guys because I know for a fact that you've both done the research ... but let's not forget what in my opinion is the most important aspect of conditioning Cardio ... all those muscles don't do a bit of good if you are bent over sucking wind ... (like I was last thursday)
How about listing your favorite exercises or workouts?

Mike if you do 50 hindu squats followed up by 25 hindu push ups and then add the bridging. I think that will give you your cardio, stretching,ab work as well as strength training. Just think if you do 200 squats and 100 push ups what your cardio would be like. Thats my personal goal at this time.
