Reflections of 2007 and Looking on to 2008
2007 - WOW! what a year. The Pete Mills Karate School has definitely had an outstanding 2007.
We have seen the birth of a website that continues to expand and inform our students. This may sound conceited considering I am the one who created the website, but I am very proud of the site and how far it has come. I can't wait to see how it grows over the next year. Any suggestions anyone has is always welcomed.
We have seen a blog transform from a simple tool to ramble on about things turn into a place of debate on some very good topics. It is my hope for 2008 that the students and instructors take a more active role in commenting. I am sure everyone is getting tired of hearing from the same ones over and over. Again, I am looking forward to seeing what discussions and hot topics will be discussed in the future.
We have seen several schools come together and work as a unit for the betterment of all those involved. I am tickled at the way our Family Nights have evolved. My thanks to Master Gregg, Master Rick and Sensei Keith and their students for their participation in our Family Nights.
We have seen the coming together of two great lineages of Isshin-Ryu Karate. The Shimabuku/Long/Mills lineage and the Shimabuku/Mitchum/Seiber lineage. I think together we will blossom in 2008 more than anyone can imagine. To me, that is the true Spirit of Isshin-Ryu. I would like to thank Master Seiber, Sensei Baird and Sensei Lewis for their participation and willingness to share with us and allow us to share with them our own interpretations of Isshin-Ryu.
I am sooooo very excited at the thought of what 2008 will mean to our association. Here are a few things I would like to see us do in 2008:
Lastly, I would like to wish everyone a Verry Merry Christmas and a HapHapHappy New Year.

- Hold 2 non-karate related events such as a day of hiking in the mountains, paintball, Family Cookout at Cove Lake or some place like that and there is a host of other things we could do.
- Community Parade - I know that Halls has a parade and I am not sure if Karns or Fountain City does, but I think it would make a great showing for everyone to participate and show that Pete Mills Karate is alive and going strong.
- Black Belt Training - I would like to see a few Black Belt seminars on topics that can help our black belts grow as instructors. It would also help the black belts bond better than ever.
Lastly, I would like to wish everyone a Verry Merry Christmas and a HapHapHappy New Year.

Tooting your own horn for the great job you have done on the website is by no means conceited, a little arrogant perhaps but not conceited. Just kidding, being one of the “same one’s over and over” I can’t wait for some new voices to arise in the coming year and look forward to the debates and good natured ribbing …
Great Ideas, Count me in … have grill will travel!!!

Kent, I hope you don't quit your day-job to pursue your dream of being a comedian!

Kent,
As I remember it Halls and Karns will be starting back on the 3rd and North Knox on the 7th ... as announced by Chris, Keith and Gregg at the last family night ... I don't recall Brad being there ... but I did hear a rumor that Karns held class last night that was not posted and would have loved to attend if I had known about it ....

The last two workouts have been the best yet! I'm looking forward to next year and beyond. I know you guy's don't agree with me when it comes to competition but Grandmaster Mills does.
With Master Seibers group joining us I think it would be a really fine show of appriciation to have a great group support him in his in school tournament in Feburary. Whether you like competing or not don't hold your students back from this great sport, who knows there may be a champion in your school an you as an instructor never gave him that chance to prove it or your support for him as a competitor. Master Mills always supported me an even went to the awards ceremonies and picked up my awards every year when I would win the circut championship's. I just feel in my heart that it would be a great honor for Sensei as well as showing love to Master Seiber by supporting his tournament. I'll do my best to send 5 or 6 from my school and I encourage that many from Halls and Karns. I'm planning on having one in the summer at North Knox, so if we support Master Seibers I'm sure he'll support ours. If we can send 20-25 from all 3 dojo's combined then when you add Master Seibeirs group along with Master's Ogle and Breeden I believe we could have a real fine turnout for our tournament in the summer. Brad, Keith give me some feeback an let me know what you think. I feel if we just do these 2 tournaments as in school tournaments during the year our students would really grow and have fun.

Hoped everyone had a great Christmas.I almost left the letters mas off Christmas. It bothers me when people leave Christ out of Christmas.People are to wrapped up in what presents they are going to get instead of the real reason for Christmas. The birth of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Its not Merry xmas.So keep Christ in your life. Now with that off my chest, the WEB page looks great and a big thanks to Sensei Brad for all the work he has done on it.I mean he is a office manager for a real estate Co. what else has he got to do in his spare time.I really enjoyed family night last Thursday.Glad to see that Sensei Keith was all right.Looking forward to Brads new workouts he has been talking about. Maybe I will get in good enough shape to walk to the mailbox. love you Kent.
